Maja, since checkout process directs you to PayPal, this may be a PayPal issue. what I can suggest to qucikly resolve this is using a different payment method or try to have the seller send you a manual invoice through PayPal.
You can relay your seller these steps on how to send an invoice through PayPal:
1. Log in to PayPal, and then click the "Request Money" tab.
2. Click the "Create an Invoice" link.
3. To create a new invoice, click the "Continue" button.
4. Fill in the information on the "Create Invoice" page (your address, your phone number, the buyer's email address, and the invoice details), and then click the "Continue" button.
5. Review the invoice details carefully. If everything is correct, click the "Send Invoice" button.
